Truly the Toughest Hole in Golf – And it’s Only a Par 3!
Everyone wants to know where the world’s toughest hole in golf is located. Many simply want to know out of curiosity while others want to attempt to tackle it and make a name for themselves. Well, the world’s hardest golf shot has been found. Where you might ask? Try the top of a 1,410 ft. mountain in South Africa!
Players who finally get up the courage to attempt this seemingly impossible shot must take a helicopter to the top of the mountain to play the hole, which is the longest and highest par 3 on the planet! Players with a fear of heights may want to steer clear of this challenge because you must plant yourself extremely close to the edge of the mountain in order to attempt the shot. The hole is so high up that the ball takes around 30 seconds to reach the ground far below.
The hole is the nineteenth hole at the Legends Golf and Safari Resort. This golfing paradise is found within the Entabeni Safari Conservancy in the Northeastern Limpop Province of South Africa. The other 18 holes may not be on top of a 1,400 foot mountain, but they also carry great prestige and were designed by golfing legends including Robert Allenby and Sergio Garcia.
If you attempt to defeat the Extreme 19, beware, as the legendary accomplishment comes with a price. The price for a foursome is $1060 and includes the helicopter ride, souvenir cap, glove, and a DVD of you playing the hole.
A million dollar prize awaits the player who can shoot a hole in one on the Extreme 19, a feat which has yet to be accomplished. However, even an attempt at the hole requires courage, strategy, and relaxation. If heights aren’t your thing, we suggest sticking to the lottery.
